Is This Your New Must-Play Course?
With so many courses in New England, it's easy to overlook a number of great ones. Th is one deserves more notice. Readers, please put Fox Ridge on your mustplaylist.
This delightful track, in the words of a New England GolfGuide course rater, is "a blend of St. Andrews and the Maine seacoast: stone walls, stone bridges, and island greens." The course features a gentle blend of rolling hills, lined with native fescue, babbling brooks, and century-old stone walls, the traditional propertylines of New England farmers.
The mostly links-style course is situated on over 200 acres of rolling countryside in south Auburn, Maine and is designed to take advantage of the natural lay of the land. This is truly a design that will demand every shot in your bag.
Superbly maintained and stretching a bold 6814 yards, the par 72 Fox Ridge is a 132 slope from the back, and a bit tamer 126 from the 6297 middle tees.
Part of the higher slope comes from the subtle greens. Putt well—or putt often. Give yourself a treat; come to Fox Ridge for a change of pace soon.
